The HOYA gray half filter allows for correct exposure and saturated sky color.
HOYA HALF NDX4 is a gray, neutral-toned half-filter with an NDX4 coefficient. One half of the filter is transparent, while the other gradually reduces the amount of light by two f-stops. The transition between the two halves of the filter is smooth, allowing for a soft gradient and adaptable exposure in most photographic situations. The half-filter is an excellent effect filter for reducing strong contrasts, resulting in a more balanced composition. It is particularly useful in landscape photography, such as photographing sunsets over the sea when there is too much brightness difference between the sky and the ground. By using a neutral half-filter, overexposure of the sky or underexposure of the water can be avoided.
