HOYA Variable Density II is a neutral density filter that provides fast and precise control over the appearance of your photos and videos. By replacing a set of fixed ND filters, it allows you to lower exposure smoothly in a range of 1.5 to 9 aperture stops, without the need to adjust the settings on your camera or camcorder. This filter can also help increase exposure time or achieve a lower aperture, regardless of shooting conditions.
Variable Density II series is the latest generation of HOYA's adjustable neutral density filters. Compared to the first edition, it includes several enhancements, such as multiple anti-reflective coatings that prevent unwanted glimmering and lens flares in your photos. Additionally, the slimmer frame has been designed to reduce the risk of vignetting, thanks to its slightly larger outer diameter.

The outer diameter of the filter is slightly larger than the inner, allowing for a 82 mm filter to be secured with a 86 mm diameter lens cap. The latest iteration of the series also features a small knob that makes it easier to set the appropriate density value.
